Do what you can so you’re easy to approach. A lot of people think intimidation and fear-mongering are the best ways to show who is in charge. This generally isn’t going to work out, and people won’t give you respect because they won’t think you deserve it. Be kind, caring and compassionate instead.
Provide incentives for quality work. Though everyone is already paid for their work, incentives can better the quality of it. If a worker goes beyond their job description, encourage them by giving them a gift or bonus. Top leaders don’t penny pinch on this.
Setting the bar high is important in business, but don’t expect the impossible. If you use impossible goals that will just set you up for failing. That is a sure way to show that you do not have the makings of a true leader.
